Lord Ram took shelter here

Located 10 kilometers to the north west of Nashik, Ramshej fort, is a small fort with much historical significance attached to it. In ancient times, this fort gave shelter to Lord Ram during his exile, thereby earning the name ‘Ramshej’ which literally means lord Ram’s bedstead. It is said that the fort was under attack of the Mughal troops and held them off for almost 6 years. Even after years of trying when the Moghuls couldn’t get their hands on the fort by force and had to resorted to bribing the Killedar. The Ramshej fort, with its history and attractions is a must visit spot.
